We envision a world in which communities are not destroyed by profit motives. We are striving for sweeping changes to structural issues that affect tenants locally and around the world. These long term goals are steps toward a more equitable future:
Housing for Everyone!
Housing is a human right! All people are entitled to stable, good quality housing regardless of their ability to pay.
Rent Control!
Rent should not increase any faster than tenant wages.
Just Cause Eviction Protections!
Eviction must be unlawful without explicit proof of a direct violation of tenants’ lease agreement. Nobody should ever be evicted without a just cause.
Democratization of Neighborhood Development!
Members of a community should have a voice in both housing and commercial development projects that affect their neighborhoods.
Redistribution of Power Back to Renters!
Too often, the legal system lands on the side of landlords. We aim to strengthen tenant power.
Unhousing Insurance!
People displaced from their homes should never be left without the resources to access stable shelter, food, and other necessities.
